OnAir, with Clinical Respiratory News
Health & Fitness:Medicine
Following our previous podcast, which delved into the evolution of home high-flow therapy (HFT) and its implications for patient care, Dr Maxime Patout returns to offer more insights into the topic. This time round he describes the objectives of the large HiFAE trial he’s leading to assess the benefit of HFT when initiated after a severe exacerbation of COPD. Focused on French patients with severe forms of the condition, the study – which saw its first patient enrolled in late 2022 – aims to show that using HFT in a home setting can indeed decrease both the rate of exacerbations and mortality, as well as improve quality of life and respiratory function.
