For more and more people, notably younger people, cars are not the status symbol they once were. This is in large part due to the bad rap they get over greenhouse gas emissions, with road transport responsible for almost 30 per cent of the EU’s total greenhouse gas emissions in recent years, and private cars accounting for almost two-thirds of this figure.
